Lessons for the new school year

I was talking to Libbie today about our music class that we do at home and about finding a piano teacher.  She asked if she could play another instrument instead.  "What else would you like to learn?"  asked I.  She : "do you think she would give me whistling lessons?"  Hmmm.  Not sure.  We'll have to ask.

Spent Monday, Labor Day, at the zoo.  Libbie did not have the day off from school.  Easily remedied.  We took school with us.  Science anyone?  History?  PE?  How about some math?  And maybe a little language arts thrown in the mix.  Hey, we even squeezed in some art with some projects left to mine out of our experience (I've got a few ideas on the brain.)  We might even celebrate our trip with some zoo music. Did we cover everything?  I'm sure we will be thinking zoo throughout the week. The girls took their cameras and got some good pix that we can draw from.
It was such a long day, and we all came home so exhausted that most half of us basically came in the door and went to bed.  Except the twins, who had a NAP during the last leg of the aquarium.  And Tyson, who stayed up with them and put them to bed.  But the zoo was fun.  We were there 6 hours, and I think we could have successfully made 2 trips of it because there was so much to see in the aquarium.  The babies LOVED the aquarium.  It was hard for them to see a lot of the animals at the zoo, but they could park right up to the tanks and watch the water exhibits.  It was so cool to be able to walk right underneath the polar bear, sea lion, and shark exhibits.  And the weather was wonderful!  And the people were not!  Labor day was probably not the greatest choice of days because of the crowds, but it sure was beautiful.

There is also a WWII battleship stationed right in Pittsburgh at the moment - the LST 325.  It was designed to be able to go right up the the beaches like at Normandy on D-day.  It has huge doors that open the back of it right up for the tanks to drive through, and they had them open while we were driving by.  Amazing.  Probably the only LST completely intact today.  We watched it as we drove over the bridge multiple times, and we actually drove right by it along the shore also.  We ooohed and aaahed, but didn't get there in time to go on the tour.
